Our AGM will be held on October 30th at The Cafe at The Bridge, 73 – 81 Southwark Bridge Road, London, SE1 0NQ 6.30pm Drinks refreshments 7pm Meeting.(Map and Instructions here)

If you are Irish and #LGBTQ come along and hear what we’re up to and we are planning in the year ahead.

This year we have marched in London Pride and the London St Patrick’s Festival organised a play reading of the work of a young gay Irish playwright who died in London of AIDS in the 80s and held a talk by a rising young historian about the history of the radical LGBTQ movement in Ireland and their involvement with the campaign against the 8th Amendment in 1983.

Conference // LGBT Equality & Ireland – Past and Present

Join us on November 1st for a conference brought to you in conjunction with Irish in Britain, entitled ‘LGBT Equality & Ireland – Past and Present’

This conference will examine two main issues central to the Irish LGBTQ community in Britain – marriage equality in Northern Ireland and the history and role of Irish LGBTQ people in Britain over the decades.

There was a fantastic turnout for the reading of Colm Clifford’s ‘Friends of Rio Rita’.

Special thanks to all the gang at Lewisham Irish Centre for allowing us to host the event in Lewisham and also for making us feel so welcome, much appreciated. Thanks must also go to the tireless Stephe Melloy from Lewisham LGBT Forum for helping us organise the event.

The event was the brainchild of our secretary, John Lloyd and we must thank the executors of Colm’s estate for allowing us to use his work and also for attending the event.
