Friends of Rio Rita’s by Colm Clifford // October 19th in Lewisham

Friends of Rio Ritas _

You may remember that last year, we had quite a successful reading of Colm Clifford’s (Colm Ó Clubhán) play ‘Friends of Rio Rita’s‘.

We’re delighted to tell you that you will have another opportunity to join us for a staged reading of Colm’s play with actors Martin Galligan and William Forde and will be directed by Stephen Gee.

The play was written in 1985 and follows two young Irish men who left Ireland because of their sexuality and increasingly find them politicised by the Troubles and Irish racism.

We will be teaming up again with our friends in Lewisham Irish Centre who will be co-hosting the event.

Where and when?

2A Davenport Road, Catford, London, SE6 2AZ (Google Map below)

Doors open at 6.30pm, Play 7.30pm

Admission £5 on the door / £3 concessions.
Tickets also available from Eventbrite

Special thanks go to Mary and Derek Evans, Colm Clifford’s Literary Executors

  1. If this is the Colm Clifford who lived and worked in the early 80s in Barcelona, then I would love to read this play. We were friends and did many walks and bike trips together. How could I get hold of a copy?

      1. Hi Nessy, It’s great to hear that Colm’s play is going to be presented again. Please could you send me the email of Mary Lillian Evans and I’ll get in touch with her about how I could read the play. In the earlier emails she gives permission for this. Many thanks, Caroline Malthus
