A little bit of info about Yvonne Devine.
Yvonne Devine is a self-employed mature Irish, UK born artist who draws and paints the world around her in a variety of media, acrylic paint, pastels, pen & ink, charcoal and conceptual art because ‘diversity is the spice of life’! She is based in Sidcup, southeast London but has lived in various parts of South London and enjoys the vibrancy and life of different local areas.
Yvonne qualified in Conceptual Sculpture, Interior Design and Marketing. She has a 30 year retail career working for designers in Ireland and the UK, including Laura Ashley. She loves independent makers, travel, learning about other cultures, lgbtq community, photography, interior design, comedy and psychology. She has shown and sold her work in independent galleries in southeast London and in the Urban Brixton Art Fair 2019 and 2020 (online).
She wanted to capture an essence of the ‘spirit of the lgbtq community’, its colour, activities, identities and stereotypes. Included in the artworks are homages to lesbian and bisexual female relationships, gay male icons, male and female drag performers, as well as abstract paintings which portray ‘moods’.
Yvonne would also like to thank the owner Lucy Fenton and the team at the Appletree Pub, Clerkenwell for showcasing some of her artwork and helping her gain exposure to a wider audience. It is most appreciated.
These original artworks can be purchased by contacting the artist to make a payment and can be collected from 15th Oct 2020 when the Exhibition ends.
