Just us for an online meet-up on April 27th at 2000. We will be joined by Irish actor and producer, and London resident, Derek Murphy.
On stage, credits include, most recently ‘Love Dance’ at ‘The Chiswick Playhouse London‘, as well as ‘Dial M for Murder’, ‘Major Barbara’, ‘Scapino’, ‘John Bulls Other Island’, and National UK Tour of ‘Arms and the Man’ (Michael Friend Productions, Shaw2020 London), ‘MacSwiney’ (Irish Theatre London) ‘Exposed‘ (Southwark Playhouse) ‘Dracula‘ (Jellyfish Theatre Co. Rome), ‘Woyzeck‘ (London Theatre) and ‘Just Above Dogs‘ (Green Curtain Theatre Co.) which was performed at The Houses of Parliament in London.
Before relocating to the U.K. he appeared in many stage productions in Ireland including ‘Blood Wedding’ (Project Arts Theatre Dublin), ‘Noises Off’ (Mill Theatre Co.Dublin), ‘Over The Top’ (John O’Brien/ Riverbank Arts) and ’Lovers’ (National Tour).
On screen, he can currently be seen in Irish Feature Film ‘Coast Road’ (Hard Bargain Pictures) and ‘Yes Queen’ (Bold House Productions Australia). He also stars in films ‘Sequins‘ (Organised Chaos), ‘The Date’ (Organised Chaos), ‘Criminal’ (Foliage Films) & ‘Situations Vacant’ (Grand Pictures/Park Films), and on television in ‘We watch, You Watch’ (RTE), hit Irish sitcom ‘Killinaskully’ (RTE) and the web series ‘Negotiations’ (Able Archer).
He can be heard in ‘Listening Books’ Radio play ‘My Boy Jack’ and Audiobook ‘The Gnarl‘ (Audible). He appears in advertising campaigns for ‘Ladbrokes‘, ‘Jaguar‘, ‘Walls Ice–cream’ and ‘Cadburys‘. Most recently he appeared as a presenter for the T.V. show ‘IrisLive/ The Iris Prize Film Festival’ (Cardiff/Channel 4) and ‘36 hours in..’ for ‘Buzzfeed/The Huffington Post’
You can currently watch Derek in the web series ‘Derek & Orla Do’ online which he created, produced and stars in alongside his partner, London drag star, Orla Nothin’.
Derek is also the Artistic Director of ‘DK Delight Productions’ which he founded in 2019. DK Delight began by producing two very successful ‘Delight Night‘ New Writing nights in 2019, along with the Christmas Storytelling spectacular ‘The Delight Before Christmas‘ in Dec 2019. 2020 began with a staged rehearsed reading of ‘Chelsea Perkins‘ a new full length play from American writer Aren Haun. Then onto the Halloween storytelling event ‘A Frightful Delight‘ in Oct 2020 and the festive extravaganza ‘The Delight Before Christmas 2’ Dec ‘20.
In 2021 he produced the St Patrick’s day variety event ‘A Paddy’s Day Delight’.
He has also produced several music videos for London drag star Orla Nothin’ and new web series ‘Parklife‘ being released soon.
