London Irish LGBT Network welcomes Westminster Vote on Marriage Equality in Northern Ireland

The London Irish LGBT Network welcomes the vote by Parliament in Westminster to extend marriage equality to Northern Ireland by October 21st, if power sharing has not been restored by then.

Our conference on LGBT Equality & Ireland last November, addressed the need for equal marriage in Northern Ireland. It was attended by Conor McGinn, Labour MP for St Helens, who tabled the motion and Clare Moore from Love Equality. We would like to extend our congratulations to those who have worked so hard for marriage equality in Northern Ireland and now look forward to having equal marriage extended to all parts of the British Isles.

Equal marriage is another step forward in solidarity and support for the LGBTQ+ community and diversity.

Pride in London 2019

Pride Flags - London Irish LGBT NetworkWe are delighted that we will be taking part in Pride here in London again this year, especially poignant as it’s the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riot which really kick started the fight for gay liberation and equality.

If you’ve been to London Pride before, you’ll know that to take part in the parade itself, you must have a wristband. We do have a limited amount of these for our members.

If you’re interested in joining us for the parade on July 6th email jameskberkery@gmail.com. James will be coordinating everyone at the meeting point on the day.

UPDATE: We will be walking in the parade in Section “C”.

Have a great day, stay safe and don’t forget the sunscreen!
