Since October 2020, we’ve been focusing on our monthly virtual meet ups. So far, we’ve had a really good response from people and we’ve received some donations for which we are eternally grateful.
As you may know, we’re a small community group and at the moment, we don’t have any funding. The donations that we have received over the past few months are paying for our monthly Zoom costs. These are costs are paid until March.
We hope that you are enjoying the meet ups as we much as we are, finding them entertaining, informative and at the moment, it’s a rare chance for us to get to speak and chat with each other.
We’ve also realised that our online meet ups have actually opened up the world for some. Before Covid, people with disabilities, commitments, shift workers, couldn’t always join in events due to time and physical constraints. Our meet ups have provided a platform to also open up the world for some. We would love to be able to continue to provide a platform for those people.
We are now planning our meet ups for February and March and want to ensure that we can still provide a safe space for our LGBTQ community. Everything we do, we do with minimal costs, we use a free WordPress website for example.

We’re not asking for lots, we understand it’s a difficult time for people and many have lost jobs or have been furloughed. Even if you can donate one pound, each of these add up, and we will very much appreciate your donation.

Kofi
You may have heard of Patreon, a system where content creators or organisations can have a subscription where you get videos / blogs /perks earlier than everyone else. We chose Ko-fi as it allows a one off payment without the need for a subscription. By choosing Ko-fi for this, it means we don’t have to pay a percentage of what we will potentially collect, unlike other systems. Using Ko-fi we can also have £1 as our main payment amount, can this way we can have the amount we need for legitimacy.
